Position and replacement of the oxygen sensor on the Volkswagen Passat B7

In this video, we will see where and how to change the oxygen sensor on a Volkswagen Passat 2011/2019. In this version, there are two lambda sensors. One pre-catalyst sensor (S1) mounted on the exhaust pipe, near the manifold, which measures oxygen in the exhaust gases to regulate the air-fuel mixture; a post-catalyst sensor (S2) located after the catalytic converter, under the passenger compartment, which checks the efficiency of the catalytic converter. This is for gasoline engines. In diesel engines, there is only the NOx sensor. To replace the S1 sensor, let the exhaust system cool down, disconnect the electrical connector of the sensor and remove it with a socket wrench (turn counterclockwise; if it is stuck, apply some loosening spray and wait 10 minutes); install the new sensor by hand to avoid damaging the threads, then tighten to 50Nm, and reconnect the connector. For the S2 sensor, it will be necessary to lift the car, as it is screwed into the exhaust system, under the underbody. Follow the same steps as for S1 for removal and installation. Afterwards, we will need to clear the error codes P0135/P0141 with an OBD2 scanner.
