How to change the air filter of the Volkswagen Touran DIY (do it yourself)

To replace the engine air filter on a Volkswagen Touran, park on a flat surface, turn off the engine, and wait for the engine compartment to cool down. Open the hood and locate the air filter box (airbox), which is the plastic container connected to the intake duct. Remove any covers that obstruct access and clear the area around the airbox. Depending on the model, the cover is secured with metal/plastic clips or screws: release or unscrew them enough to lift the cover without forcing it. Carefully lift the cover, avoiding pulling on nearby hoses or wiring. Remove the old air filter and note its orientation: the new one should be inserted in the same direction and must fit properly in its place. Before installing the new filter, clean the inside of the airbox of leaves and dust (without letting dirt fall into the intake duct) and ensure that the sealing surface is clean. Insert the new filter, making sure it sits properly on all sides. Close the airbox cover and reattach all clips or screw the screws back in evenly, without overtightening. Reattach any removed covers, close the hood, and start the engine for a quick check: there should be no unusual vibrations or intake noises caused by an improperly closed cover.
