How to Replace the Ignition Coils on a Volkswagen Tiguan MK1

Here’s how to change the ignition coils on a Volkswagen Tiguan MK1: the coils are located at the top of the engine, under the protective cover, which you will need to remove. Disconnect the electrical connectors and then extract the old coils. Clean the wells of any dirt and debris, then apply a bit of silicone or dielectric grease to the end of the coil that inserts into the well: this helps prevent the coil from sticking in the future, making the next maintenance easier. Align the new coil in the well, ensure the connectors are aligned correctly, push each connector until you hear the locking click, reassemble the cover and you’re done.
