How to replace the battery on a VW Passat? Follow the battery replacement process. Open the car door and pull up the engine compartment release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard, then lift the bonnet, disengaging the locking lever with your fingers, and secure it. Once the engine compartment is open, you will find the battery at the top right; remove the securing pins of the battery terminals, then take off the protective box and remove it from the engine compartment. Replace it with a new one (same voltage). Close the bonnet after maintenance.
