How to Replace the Key Battery on a Volkswagen Passat

Replacing the battery in the electronic key of a Volkswagen Passat is very simple. First, remove the key fob, which has the emergency key attached to the electronic key. Then, remove the metal casing of the key fob. Use a coin or a small screwdriver to pry between the two sides of the key body, opening it in two. At this point, you will see the actual battery in its housing. It is a CR2032 battery, which you can easily obtain from a newsagent or any supermarket for a few pounds. Replace it, ensuring the correct polarity, and then close the key body. Reattach the metal part and the emergency key. Operation complete.
