How to open the bonnet of a Volkswagen Passat for maintenance and fluid top-ups? Follow these steps to open the bonnet. Open the driver's side door, pull the plastic lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard. Once the lever is pulled, move the lever under the bonnet (with your fingers) and lift the front bonnet of the car (as shown in the video). After performing maintenance on your engine, close the bonnet; simply let it drop from a relatively low height to avoid damaging the car.
