How to Change Engine Oil on a VW Golf 4

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003

Replace the engine oil and filter on your VW Golf 4 if you have exceeded the maximum mileage limit. Open the car door and pull up the engine bay release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard, then lift the front bonnet and secure it. Using a socket wrench, unscrew the oil filter. Remove the worn oil filter and install a new one. Lift the car on a jack and unscrew the oil sump plug; allow the fluid to drain into a container. Finally, top up with new oil and close the front bonnet. Start the vehicle and check its operation.
