Is the battery in the Jetta remote key flat? Here’s how to replace it. Take your remote key, open the metal key fob, and use a screwdriver to pry between the two parts of the plastic key cover. Pry until the two pieces of the cover separate. Remove the two halves of the battery cover. Extract the flat battery with a screwdriver and replace it with a new one of the same size and voltage. Refit the two covers of your remote by pressing down until you hear it click into place. Check the proper functioning of the remote key by pressing the buttons.
