How to Drain and Replace DSG Transmission Fluid

Model: Volkswagen Jetta MK 5, A5 - Years 2005-2010

This tutorial explains the procedure for changing the transmission fluid on a Volkswagen Jetta. First, remove the engine cover using a ratchet. Now remove the splash guard, the battery, and the air filter box. Using a ratchet with an extension, unscrew the bolts securing the shield and remove it. You will then have access to the filter plug, which you can unscrew using a 24mm socket with an extension. Remove the plug with the attached filter and begin to siphon the stagnant fluid from the well. Retrieve the old gasket from the filter plug, insert a new filter into the well, and re-screw the plug. Using a 14mm Allen key, unscrew the sump plug located under the vehicle and drain the old fluid. Re-screw the plug and proceed with replacing it with new fluid. The sump holds approximately 4.5 litres of oil. Shake the fluid before inserting it. You can speed up the operation by using air pressure inserted into the fluid container via a compressor.
