Volkswagen Jetta - Video tutorial

Model: Volkswagen Jetta MK 5, A5 - Years 2005-2010
Part: Transmission
Operation: How to drain and replace the fluid of a DSG transmission

This tutorial explains the procedure for changing the transmission fluid on a Volkswagen Jetta. First you need to remove the engine cover using a ratchet wrench. Now remove the splash guard, battery and air filter case. Using a ratchet wrench fitted with an extension, unscrew the bolts that secure the shield and remove it. You will thus have access to the filter cap which you can unscrew using a wrench with extension and with a 24 mm pocket. Remove the cap with the attached filter and start sucking the stagnant liquid from the well. Retrieve the old gasket from the filter cap, insert a new filter into the sump and screw the cap back on. With a 14 mm Allen wrench, unscrew the cap of the sump located under the car and let the old fluid drain. Screw the cap back on and proceed with replacing the new liquid. The cup holds about 4.5 liters of oil. Shake the liquid before inserting it. The operation can be speeded up by exploiting the pressure of the air inserted in the liquid drum by means of a compressor.
