How to Remove the Boot Lid on a Volkswagen Golf

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf III, MK 3, Golf 3 - Years 1991-1997

Before you can start, you need to open the boot. Begin by lifting the side covers of the internal boot, exposing the wiring. Proceed to disconnect the connector attached to the green cable that goes upwards, and repeat this step for the opposite side. Once done, pull these wires from inside the pillars, bringing them out from the top. Next, unscrew the bolts that secure the hinges to the roof, located under the interior headlining of the car. At this point, remove the clips from the hydraulic struts while holding the boot lid up. Once the clips are removed and the struts are detached, you can remove the boot lid, successfully completing the disassembly.
