How to open the Volkswagen Tiguan door when the remote battery is flat?

To open the door of the Volkswagen Tiguan when the remote battery is flat, insert the key into the lower part of the lock cover. This is located right next to the handle: by prying with the key, you can remove the cover and reveal the underlying lock. Once the lock is exposed, insert the key into the lock and open the car. This is a temporary solution to the problem; it is advisable to replace the key battery as soon as possible.
