Many TDI engines in the Volkswagen Audi range feature a transverse layout, meaning the timing belt is positioned at the front, and to replace it, you practically need to dismantle almost the entire front of the vehicle. Once you reach the timing belt pulley cascade, remove the auxiliary pulley and rotate the crankshaft pulley until the timing marks align; at this point, secure the pulleys from accidental rotation by inserting a pin into the camshaft pulley and loosen the tensioner to slide off the toothed belt.
