Disassembling Remote Key: Transponder

Inside the remote key, besides housing the battery and the electronic circuit for opening and closing the vehicle, is the so-called transponder: an automatic device that receives, amplifies, and retransmits a signal on a different frequency. This mechanism allows the vehicle to recognise the ignition key and enable the engine to start. The transponder is located in the part of the remote where the metal key is housed: once the remote is separated from the key (there is no need to separate the remote shells unless replacing the battery, for example), remove the logo and unscrew the underlying screw, separate the two plastic shells taking care with the elements that make up the key's opening and closing system, and locate the transponder. It is a small bar located in the shell and secured with silicone. When reassembling the key, preload the spring that controls the key's snap correctly.
