Instructions for Removing Dual-Mass Flywheel

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

Replacing the clutch requires removing the gearbox and having good mechanical knowledge to correctly replace the dual-mass flywheel and other components of the clutch (disc, release bearing, and thrust bearing). Once the vehicle is raised on the ramp, start by removing the driveshaft from the gearbox side, unscrewing the bolts of the flange connecting to the gearbox and the one securing it to the wheel hub; then free the clutch cable and the gear cables, remove the relevant support, and detach the gearbox while supporting it with a jack to access the clutch; then remove the release bearing and the disc itself to access the flywheel and unscrew the ring of bolts securing it to the crankshaft (in this case, it was necessary to cut the section of sheet metal covering the bolts as it was deformed, obstructing access to the bolts).
