To adjust the handbrake on the Volkswagen Polo, first lift the car using a jack. Once the car is off the ground, remove the left rear wheel and take off the cover located behind the handbrake to access the handbrake cable. At this point, pull the handbrake to make two clicks and use a spanner to tighten the handbrake cable. To ensure the handbrake is correctly adjusted, release the handbrake and check that the caliper turns freely. Now check that the handbrake only makes six clicks when fully pulled. Once the handbrake makes only six clicks and the caliper turns freely when the handbrake is released, it means it is correctly adjusted.
