How to Replace the Handbrake Button on a Volkswagen Passat?

To replace the handbrake button on a Volkswagen Passat, lift the gaiter of the gear lever to access the housing. This allows you to lever off the trim that surrounds it. Once the trim is removed, you can locate the screw that secures the button panel: unscrew this to lift the panel and disconnect the connector underneath. After disconnecting the old button panel, connect the new panel and secure it in place with its screw.
