This guide demonstrates how to change the key battery on a second-generation Volkswagen Tiguan mk2. The required battery for this key model is a CR2025 3V battery. First, release the physical key from the remote by pressing the designated button.

Next, insert a flat screwdriver into the slot of the physical key and lever off the plastic back cover to remove it. With the back cover removed, you will see the old battery that needs replacing. Replace it and then refit the remote.
