To replace the timing belt on a Volkswagen Polo, open the bonnet to access the left side of the engine block. Here, there will be a plastic cover that needs to be removed to access the pulleys and the belt underneath. By loosening the nut on the tensioner pulley, you can reduce the tension on the belt, allowing you to remove it from its housing. Once the old belt has been removed, position the new one, aligning the pulleys and refitting the tensioner pulley.
