Replacing the Auxiliary Belt

Replacing the auxiliary belt is quite simple to carry out; the most delicate part is adjusting the tensioner. Open the bonnet and remove the plastic cover. Position the vehicle on suitable axle stands to facilitate access under the engine bay and to the auxiliary belt tensioner, located just above the air conditioning compressor. Then, loosen the tensioner and slide the belt off the pulleys. Next, dismantle the fixing pins of the tensioner (it consists of a support bracket, a pulley, and a small damper), remove it from its seat, and install the new one. Align the new belt with the pulleys, loosen the tensioner to complete its insertion, and tension the belt.
