Replacement of Front Brake Discs and Pads

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

Position the vehicle on appropriate axle stands and remove the front wheel. Perform an initial cleaning of the caliper and disc with specific spray and lubricate the caliper mounting pins with penetrating oil. Then, unscrew the brake caliper mounting pins and remove the caliper, also extracting the old pads. Remove the brake caliper bracket to access the disc, using the wheel mounting pins as extractors. Clean the disc seat on the hub thoroughly with a wire brush and use the same brush to remove dirt from the caliper bracket. Clean the new discs of any protective oil residue, apply grease to the hub seat, and insert the discs, securing them with two wheel pins. Next, install the caliper bracket, insert the new pads (cut the wire if the sensor is not needed), applying copper grease to the back and sliding guides. Compress the caliper piston using a clamp and finish by securing the caliper to its bracket. Pump the brake pedal until it offers the correct resistance and pay attention during the initial braking.
