Replacing the Catalytic Converter on a Volkswagen Golf 5.

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 5, Golf 5, Golf V - Years 2003-2008

This video is a guide to replacing the catalytic converter on a Golf 5. First, switch off the car, engage the handbrake, and open the bonnet using the lever. Disconnect the battery and raise the front of the car, supporting it on axle stands. Next, remove the undertray located beneath the engine. Unscrew the bolt from the end of the catalytic converter, open it with a screwdriver, and remove the support Silent Block plate to extract the catalytic converter itself. Then, securely fasten the plate of the new kit. The new kit will have a coupling sleeve: use it to connect the new catalytic converter and the pipe, aligning the blue lines of these two components with the centre of the sleeve. Tighten the nuts using a spanner. At this point, fit the metal joint onto the outlet of the catalytic converter and insert the new catalytic converter into its position. Open the new ring, fit it at the junction point, and tighten it with a 5mm spanner. Finally, reassemble the exhaust and refit it.
