How to Reset the Maintenance Light on a Volkswagen Jetta

Model: Volkswagen Jetta MK 5, A5 - Years 2005-2010

If the maintenance light (Service spanner) comes on, the first step is to perform maintenance on the vehicle, such as changing the engine oil and filters. After completing the DIY service, get into the car and engage the handbrake. Insert the key and turn on the ignition; the display will show a message to perform the service. Turn off the vehicle and press the (00/SET) button below the speedometer while simultaneously turning on the ignition without starting the engine. Release the right button and press the left button below the speedometer. Finally, turn off and then turn on the ignition again to verify the maintenance reset.
