To replace the cylinder head gasket on a Volkswagen Golf 3, open the bonnet to access the components inside the engine bay: before removing the engine head, disconnect all cables located above it, also removing any obstructing parts. This will allow you to unscrew the bolts securing the head, completely removing it and pulling out the gasket.

Once the old gasket has been removed, insert the new one so that all removed components can be reassembled.
