Instructions for Replacing the Diesel Filter

Model: Volkswagen Jetta A4, MK 4 - Years 1998-2005
Part: Diesel fuel filter

The diesel filter is located behind the right front headlamp (passenger side), near the windscreen washer reservoir: it is a submerged type filter. To replace it, obtain half a litre of clean diesel along with the new filter. Unscrew the fastening screws of the flange above the filter seat without disconnecting the pipes, lift the cap, remove the old filter, and siphon out the dirty diesel from the bowl to thoroughly clean the bottom of the bowl. Apply the new O-ring gasket to the cap, insert the new filter cartridge, and fill the bowl with clean diesel.
