Operation: How do you replace the gearshift knob on the 2007 Volkswagen Polo?

Before we start, let's get a plastic lever, a pair of pliers, and two flathead screwdrivers, in addition to the new shift knob, of course. Using the lever, we remove the frame of the shift knob as shown in the video. We lift the shift knob and turn it upside down so that the metal strap is visible, which we remove using the pliers and one of the screwdrivers. We pull the shift knob upwards and slide it off along with the shift knob cover. We move to a work table and completely free the shift knob by removing the various fasteners (including the plastic ring). Now, we can install the new shift knob, and to do so, we just need to retrace our steps in reverse.
