If the interior lights remain on even when the doors are closed, it means that the micro switch integrated in the lock is no longer functioning and cannot signal to the comfort module that the door is closed; this is a common fault in many Volkswagen models, so much so that many aftermarket parts manufacturers have introduced a rebuilt lock at very competitive prices; however, if you want to attempt the repair, purchase a new micro switch, remove the lock by taking off the door panel and then disassemble it completely until you reach the electronic board integrated in the lock itself and replace the micro switch by desoldering the old one and soldering in the new one.
