Here is the procedure for replacing the battery in the remote key of a Volkswagen Passat. The battery is hidden behind a small cover on the outer casing of the remote, which can be opened simply using your fingers. Once this panel is removed, the CR2032 battery is clearly visible and can be extracted with a small screwdriver. After inserting the new battery, simply close the cover.
