Replacing the battery of the key remote for a Volkswagen Passat is a very simple task that does not require special tools. Take the key remote and press the metal button to extend the metal key. At this point, use the tip of a knife to pry open the side edge of the remote and pull it apart. This will separate the two halves. Take the lower part of the remote and open the casing; inside you will find the battery to replace. Proceed with the replacement and close the remote.
