Replacing the key battery on a Volkswagen Passat is a very simple task that can be done in seconds with our tutorial. Start the battery replacement process by removing the metal key from the remote by pressing on the sides.

Next, use a flat-head screwdriver to open the remote casing. Once open, you can remove the worn battery.

Continue by inserting a new CR2032 3-volt battery and then close the casing. Reinsert the emergency key and test the key's functionality.
