Replacing the Gear Lever with a New Version

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 5, Golf 5, Golf V - Years 2003-2008

Obtain the new gear lever suitable for the vehicle in question. First, detach the gear lever cover by pulling it upwards while pressing down on the upper side with both thumbs, then gently lift it completely. Unscrew the retaining screw of the cover and the gear lever located under the lever knob and remove it from its seat. Refit the new lever using the cover from the old model. Reattach the lever and carefully reposition the cover, ensuring the gear lever moves freely.
