Removing and Replacing Particulate Filter

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005
Part: Diesel particulate filter

Remove the plastic cover inside the bonnet near the passenger side by unscrewing the plastic screw above it. Pull it off gently towards you. The filter is visible under the plastic trim. Extract it by sliding it out from under the plastic trim that covers it. Remove any debris and impurities trapped in the duct. Insert the new filter according to the indicated direction: the ears should face downwards. Insert the filter into its housing, starting from the driver's side. At this point, you can reattach the cover and screw in the screw.
