In this tutorial, you will see how to replace the tailgate lock in a Volkswagen Golf, an extremely simple and quick operation. First, open the tailgate itself, using the emergency procedure if necessary, then remove the two caps inside the handles and, using a Torx T25 key, unscrew the exposed screws. Next, use a plastic spatula to pry along the perimeter of the panel, separating it from the tailgate, and proceed to unscrew the bolts securing the lock. To fit the replacement, simply follow the reverse procedure.
