How to Manually Close the Roof of the Volkswagen New Beetle

This video shows how to manually close the convertible roof of the Volkswagen New Beetle: it is normally operated by two electric motors on each side; to close it manually, you will need tools found in the boot, along with the spare wheel: an Allen key, a screwdriver, and the handle for the upper closure. The first step is to open all the windows, then go to the corner of the hood and remove the Allen key located there; then insert the Allen key with the extension and open; do the same on the other side. Now the roof is disconnected from the motor and lifts easily: you can insert the manual handle, which will be placed under the cap located at the centre of the plastic cover. Align the handle holes with those of the hole and tighten with the screwdriver. The action of the handle opens and closes two forks on the sides, which will latch onto the front of the vehicle. The manual recommends doing this operation with two people, but it can also be done alone from the back seats while keeping it parallel. Then, with the handle, pull it up to the windscreen, ensuring it enters the locks, and turn the handle to close it, and there you have it.
