This brief and simple guide will show you the steps to remove and replace the cigarette lighter socket in a Volkswagen Golf. First, get inside the vehicle and start by detaching and removing the plastic cover of the ashtray, which will also remove the cigarette lighter socket (disconnect the electrical connector underneath), as shown in the video.

At this point, replace the cigarette lighter socket with a 12V one if necessary, then reattach the socket; finally, reassemble the ashtray by reversing the disassembly process!
