Learn how to remove the cigarette lighter located at the bottom of the dashboard on a Volkswagen Golf Mk6. Use a plastic lever to detach the trim around the gear lever (remove the knob if necessary), then detach the panel with the cigarette lighter.

Disconnect the power connectors for the lighter and other buttons.

Remove the unit and replace it with a new one (compatible or original) of the same voltage. After installing the lighter back into the panel, reattach it to the car's dashboard and refit the trim with all associated parts.
