How to replace the battery of the Volvo S90 DIY
On the Volvo S90, the replacement of the secondary battery is performed with the vehicle turned off and safely. The compartment is opened, and the covers are removed to access the housing; then the terminals are identified, and disconnection is carried out (negative first, then positive), taking care to protect wiring and sensors. Once the mounting bracket is loosened, the battery is extracted vertically from its support. Before installation, compatibility is checked (size, capacity, and AGM technology), and the contacts are cleaned; the new battery is positioned in place, the bracket is reattached, and then the terminals are reconnected (positive first, then negative), ensuring the correct torque is applied to the terminals. Finally, the covers are repositioned, and a functional check is performed: instrument panel active, lights/services, and, if present, Stop&Start. If required by the manufacturer or the setup, the battery reset/registration is carried out via the service menu or diagnostic tool.
