Painting Remote Key Housing

Model: Volvo Xc90 MK 1 - Years 2002-2014

Modern ignition keys contain a remote system for opening doors but are made of thin plastic, making them quite delicate and prone to wear. If the key housing deteriorates, it can be repainted. Disassemble the key into all its parts, set aside the electronics, battery, and silicone keypad. Thoroughly clean all plastic parts using a toothbrush and an alcohol-based solvent (no acetone). Dry the parts thoroughly and place them on a surface protected by paper and away from dust. After shaking a spray paint can well, spray the various parts gently and evenly. Do not overdo the paint to avoid unsightly drips. Once you are sure they are dry, reassemble the various parts.
