To replace the battery in the Volvo XC90 remote, simply remove the plastic cover located on the back of the remote, opposite the buttons. Once the cover is removed, you can slide the battery out of its compartment and replace it with a new one. After inserting the new battery, close the remote by putting the plastic cover back on. Now you can check the remote's functionality with the new battery.
