How do I replace the resistor of the Volvo XC70 cabin fan?

In order to replace the Volvo XC70 fan resistor you need to remove the side cover of the central tunnel which is located in correspondence with the footrest compartment on the driver's side: when this cover has been removed, it will be possible to loosen the screws that fix the accelerator pedal, which can then be removed from its seat by disconnecting the connector. Just behind it it will be possible to identify the fan resistance, which will have to be extracted and replaced with a new spare part; after replacement, the new one must be fitted.
