The timing belt in a Volvo V40 can be replaced by opening the bonnet to access the components located within the engine compartment: on the left side, you will need to remove some obstructive components such as the air filter and the wiper fluid reservoir to access the side of the engine block. Here, there will be a protective panel that must be removed by loosening the securing screws; some screws will be accessible by removing the right front wheel and the corresponding wheel arch. At this point, loosen the central nut of the tensioner pulley, remove the belt itself, and install a new replacement part.
