Fuel Pump Replacement on Alfa Romeo 156

If you have issues with the fuel pump on a 156, it is better to replace it. Disconnect the battery cables, then remove all the rear seats from the car. Use a socket spanner to unscrew the bolts securing the black metal cap, remove it from its housing, and cover it with absorbent paper to soak up any fluid leaks. Disconnect the power terminals and the fuel circulation pipes. Pull the fuel pump out of the tank. Check the operation of the pump; replace it with a new one. Fit the pump back into its housing and reconnect the terminals and pipes.
