How to Repair the Headliner Upholstery in an Audi A8

The goal is to remove and replace the headliner fabric and reupholster the steering wheel of the Audi A8: start by removing the front and rear side plastic panels, the support handles, and the sun visors, using a trim tool for the clips. The headliner is secured by metal clips around the panoramic roof; release them starting from the rear; disconnect all electrical connectors and pass the large headliner panel through the rear door by lowering the seats. Remove the old fabric and any adhesive residue from the panel. For the steering wheel, remember to disconnect the battery before handling the airbag, which you will remove by inserting a screwdriver into the rear holes of the steering wheel, turning to unlock, pulling out, and disconnecting the connectors. Mark the precise orientation of the steering wheel relative to the steering column and remove the central M12 nut. The steering wheel is taken to a professional for reupholstering, while the yellowed plastic of the airbag is painted black after thorough cleaning. Reassemble the steering wheel and glue the new fabric onto the car's headliner, reinstalling all accessories and reattaching the headliner in the cabin, re-engaging the metal clips and reconnecting the lights.
