Replacement of the timing chain of the Audi 2.5 TDI V6 AKE engine

In this video we can see how to replace the timing belt of the Audi 2.5 TDI V6 AKE engine, for which two toothed belts are needed; to lock the timing we have different markings; we start by locking the injection pump, then we open the oil cap and check that the "OT" mark appears on the camshaft, indicating the top dead center. We stop the camshaft, and to do this we will have to remove a small cover on the rear side of the engine, and remove the vacuum pump in order to insert the appropriate tool. Just before the flywheel there is a hole, where we will screw in the locking tool. Now that the timing is locked, we can remove the base plate of the trapezoidal belt and the toothed belt for the injection pump; now we can remove the main belt, and loosen it with the tensioner roller. Once the two screws are loosened, we can remove the gear wheels with a puller, then we can remove the belt. We replace the components; behind the belt there is the coolant thermostat, and it is advisable to take the opportunity to change it, as it can only be reached at this time. When we mount the tensioner roller, we check its functionality and correct installation. We position the belt starting from the crankshaft, passing through the camshaft gear wheel, the tensioner roller and the idler pulley, up to the water pump. We loosen the tensioner roller to remove the pin and then tighten it with a torque of 15 Nm: we fix the two gear wheels at 75 Nm. We place the tensioner roller on the injection pump cover, then we turn the engine twice, removing all the locking tools.
