In this video we can see where the fuse boxes of the BMW 3 Series E46 version are located: we can find the first box inside the passenger compartment, behind the glove compartment. To access it, we must turn the two clips located on the sides, at the top, and pull down the rear part of the compartment, allowing us to access the box. Here we find the fuse for the cigarette lighter, which is also a power outlet: it is the 15 Ampere fuse number 47 until 3/1999, and the 20 Ampere fuse number 47 from 3/1999. Behind the glove compartment there are also maxi fuses and relays.

We will also find a fuse box above the right wheel arch in the rear luggage compartment; an electronic box above the left shock absorber strut in the engine compartment; while others are variously arranged throughout the car: for this detail we recommend consulting the owner's manual.
