Check Engine Oil on BMW 3 Series

Check the engine oil level on a BMW 3 Series. Open and lift the hood. Locate the dipstick with the ring to pull it out; remove it and check the oil level (there are specific marks for minimum and maximum). Wipe it with a cloth to remove any oil residue; insert and remove the dipstick again. If the oil is at the low level on the dipstick, add oil (use the correct type of oil). Remove the oil filler cap and add oil as needed. Recheck the engine oil level and close the cap on the cylinder head. Close the hood.
