How to Replace the Ignition Coil on a BMW 3 Series

Model: BMW Serie 3 E91, E90, E92 - Years 2005-2013

Before you begin, open the hood of your BMW 3 Series. Start by removing the bolts that secure the air filter housing, then take out the air filter housing itself. Next, remove the cover above the engine by disengaging the various covers and unscrewing the mounting bolts. At this point, you can take off the engine cover and access the ignition coil. Proceed to disconnect the connector from the coil, then remove the coil itself to complete the disassembly. To install the new coil and reassemble everything, simply reverse these steps, and the replacement will be complete.
