How to Replace the Air Filter on a BMW 3 Series

Today, I will explain how to independently replace the air filter on a BMW 3 Series model E46. Open the hood and remove the fastening elements of the air duct housing. Disconnect the duct housing and loosen the fastening clamps; using a socket wrench, remove the air filter housing. Remove the air filter housing and disconnect the mass airflow sensor connector. Loosen the screws on the air filter cover using a Phillips screwdriver. Clean the inside of the box before inserting the filter. After inserting the filter, close the box cover and reinstall the entire box inside the hood. Reconnect the connector and tighten the locking nut of the box.
