How do you replace the engine air filter on a BMW 3 Series? Follow these steps: Open the car door, pull up the engine hood release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard, and lift the hood (secure it). Remove the air box (where the air filter is located), and detach the clamp connecting the intake hose to the air filter box. Extract the worn air filter and insert a new one, ensuring it fits snugly against the walls of the box. Finally, reassemble the air box and tighten the screws. Close the hood.
