- Years 1995-2003 Before starting, we will have to sit on the driver's seat of our BMW 5 Series. Let's start by pressing and holding the button next to the fuel gauge. In the meantime, we will have to activate the instrument panel by turning the key to the first position in the ignition lock. Once we have turned on the instrument panel, we will have to continue holding the button until we have entered the reset menu. At this point, we will have to press the previous button again, and we will have to hold it down until the "Service" light goes out. When we have completed this last step, we will have completed the reset of the "Service" light on our BMW 5 Series.
