Replacing the Cooling Fan Clutch

Generally, rear-wheel drive sedans with longitudinal engines use the energy from the crankshaft to spin the cooling fan. However, the fan's rotation must be proportional and adjusted based on the coolant temperature. Therefore, the fan has a hub that contains a clutch, allowing the fan to engage or disengage with the engine's motion depending on the temperature. Consequently, if you experience overheating issues or, conversely, low temperatures affecting cabin climate control, replacing the fan clutch may be necessary. Once you remove the fan, unscrew the three Allen screws. Take this opportunity to clean the area thoroughly and reposition the central hub at the center of the cooling blades.
